As 2018 draws to a close, we want to thank you for making this such a great year for us; your customer loyalty and ongoing support is something we notice and truly value.
It’s been an eventful year, presenting some unusual weather challenges as we’ve worked to improve the business. Not only were we able to grow and bring on new staff, but we are also commencing a dealership with Honda and are planning new expansions and improvements which will make a great difference in our ability use our showroom and respond to surges in demand.
This fall was touch-and-go for a few weeks as we struggled to meet the surge of snowblower demand following October’s unusual snow event. (We now have lots of snowblowers in stock, along with everything else you need for snow removal!)
Recent events also have all of us here at Arn’s Equipment thinking about the company’s history. Starting as a bike repair shop in 1946, this family business now spans four generations and is well into its eighth decade of operation. Not many other local businesses can make a similar claim.
We’re saddened to report David O. Jardine passed away recently from cancer after a 32-year long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Beginning at Arn’s as a mechanic in 1966, Dave purchased the company from his wife’s uncle, Arn Cummins, in 1971. David Jardine would go on to be the prime mover of Arn’s Equipment for three decades. Declining health would cause him to cut back on work and ultimately sell the business to his son Scott in 2000, but Dave never truly retired.
While Parkinson’s may have slowed him down physically, Dave’s mind stayed sharp. He remained keenly interested in the company’s management, frequently visiting and acting as a sounding board for Scott right up until the end. He loved this business, and he will be greatly missed by all of us at Arn’s.
In 2019, we’re renewing our commitment to utmost customer satisfaction; our service department is growing and changing, and you’ll see some new how-to and video content coming soon. Once again, we greatly thank you for your business, and wish you happy holidays and a healthy and prosperous New Year!
